The Northern Italian SAT Choir

Spring is in the air and thanks god, fairs and concerts start to become more frequent in Montalcino and in the rest of Tuscany.

Don't miss out on Sant'Angelo Scalo's fun village fair with donkey races, card game marathons and (obvioulsy!) plenty of Tuscan reds. Click through to Montalcino's tourist office website for the exact timing of the event on worker's day. If you travel with teenagers make sure you check out the open-air disco on Saturday night. So provincial but so much fun.

4th OF MAY - Bach concert at Sant'Agostino
If you prefer to start the month in a more gentle fashion, take a chair at the Bach concert at Montalcino's Sant'Agostino church (next to Montalcino's museum). The concert is sponsored by the Fondazione Bertarelli, which is subsidizing the restoration works of the  precious freschoes in the Sant'Agostino church. There will be an introduction to the project at the beginning of the concert.
Friday 4th of May, 6.30pm
Solists of the Thema Regium Ensemble
Director Hans-Eberhard Dentler

5th OF MAY - Coro SAT at Sant'Antimo abbey
If you are into folk music, you have to visit Sant'Antimo abbey in Castelnuovo dell'Abate on the fifth of May so as to get the chance to listen to some of Italy's most beautiful folk music tunes. The Coro della SAT (a choir of male voices) from Trento in Northern Italy is famous for its vocal interpretation of Italian folk music and star musicians like Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli have arranged especially for this choir. So don't miss out.
Saturday 5th of May, 9pm (see flyer)
Coro della SAT (Choir of the Alpinisti Tridentini)
